Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World
Just saw Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World at the Kukui Grove Cinema, which is located in Lihue.
The movie was okay and while this was not my first time going to Kukui Grove Cinema. I need to say they may not have stadium seats there, but they do sell at least 4 different hot dogs and Mountain Dew.
Anyway this movie reunites A Beautiful Mind actors Russell Crowe and Paul Bettany doing a 19th century version of Star Trek with Russell Crowe being Captain Kirk and Paul Bettany doing double duty as Dr. McCoy and Mr. Spock.

I've heard surprisingly good things about this film, Russell Crowe notwithstanding. Even the word "Oscar" being bandied about. Don't think I'll get to see it, though. (Saving my movie karma for LOTR: Return of the King.)
You were in Lihue, Helen?

It took me a couple of days to realize how much I loved the movie. Despite the rather slow start and the fact that I am not really a Russell Crowe fan, the movie really grew on me. I love the scenery, especially the Galapagos, and the music. I even went out to buy the CD. I'm not sure if I would read the Patrick O'Brien novels though my friend's husband loved them and swears that the movie is true to the book. That's rather rare for movies nowadays so I have to applaud the producers.
