I'm out the door (sans radio) at five every morning, so it's actually been quite a while since I've woken up to Bob Edwards's voice, but I still mourn his being replaced on Morning Edition.
MORE...Frank B. Shaner disappeared unceremoniously from the morning show on Hawaiian 105 KINE FM a couple of months ago. Many people asked, "Where's Frankie?"
Famous for his Hawaiian Falsetto Competition and for being the comic force behind Brickwood Galuteria's "straight man" on KINE, Shaner's absence has left a gaping hole in the morning drive time. Galuteria now often fumbles when yet another caller asks on-air, "So where's Frank?"
MORE...As anyone who listens to HPR knows, it is doing one of its begging bowl routines. Okay, I admit, this one is not as obnoxious as some in the past have been. But in ordinary times, I just don't turn it on during the "pledge drive". These are not, of course, ordinary times.

MORE..."Hawaii's Country Music" as the station calls itself is now on the air. The call letters are KHCM; used to be KJPN until last week. The station was bought by Salem Media from its previous owners for $650,000.
If you're familiar with contemporary country music of the last 20 years you'll be familiar with the music and artists... George Strait, The Judds, Kenny Chesney, Martina McBride, Garth Brooks, and others. The programming is being beamed from a Colorado syndication service. KHCM is at 940 on the AM dial.
