FAQ: BlogBuddy

Because HawaiiStories is powered by Movable Type, and because Movable Type is built to be compatible with the "Blogger API," you can use an external application (or even build your own) to post to the site.

Important Note: BlogBuddy (and any similar application) does not distinguish between the "Main Entry Text" and "Extended Entry Text" fields. So please only use "BlogBuddy" for short, tidbit-style posts (rather than long essays).

Compatible Applications:

Instructions (for BlogBuddy):

  1. Select "General Settings" from the "Settings" menu. On the "General" tab, enter your HawaiiStories username in "UserName," and your password in "Password."

  2. In the "Remote Host" tab, enter "www.hawaiistories.com" in "Host name," and "/movabletype/mt-xmlrpc.cgi" into "Endpoint."

  3. In the "Blogs" tab, click the "Update blogs" button; BlogBuddy will contact the HawaiiStories site and ask it for a list of blogs which you have access to (usually just "HawaiiStories," the main group weblog).

  4. You can now post to HawaiiStories using BlogBuddy's posting interface!
