Syndication Problems

I just discovered something that you all should be aware of. If you're syndicating Hawaii Stories, and the Hawaii Stories site is down, or there's a problem with your site communicating with it, your own site might get messed up.

My solution is if my site doesn't get a response from Hawaii Stories in a couple of seconds, I'll display the last good syndicated listing. Seems to work.

Hey, welcome back! Was getting a bit quiet around here without you.

I just experienced exactly the same syndication problems that Haken described in this thread, while I was trying to post my latest journal entry - in my case, the page ended up loading much slower than usual. Since I only have basic HTML and the Angelfire server to work with, I ended up posting a note to keep the whole site from messing up completely.

Good to see Hawaii Stories back up and running again, though. :)
