Cartoons and Life

The August 3-9, 2002 issue of TV Guide features the "50 greatest cartoon characters of all time" in 4 different covers.

Coming in 45th place are those two spys from Pottsylvania, Boris and Natasha. While I do remember these two in The Bullwinkle Show, I never heard the following quote in the TV Guide but when I read it I thought it was a perfect (and sort of funny) statement of life in general:

Natasha: "You have plan, dahlink?"
Boris: "Of course I have plan, it never works, but I always have one!"

A sampling of the TV Guide rankings is posted on their website here. I don't know who number one is (probably some "classic" character, given the readership of TV Guide), but I love that Homer Simpson is number two.

TIME Magazine, after all, named "The Simpsons" the best television show of the 20th Century.

Bugs Bunny, I'd wager.

I've always wondered why there isn't some right-wing outcry against Bugs Bunny for furthering a homosexual agenda. The wascaly wabbitt, after all, dresses up in drag all the time, and it's not like being in drag dulls the fact Bugs smacks Yosemite Sam and Elmer Fudd full on the lips.

I have to say -- after I came out, Bugs Bunny's drag act took on a whole 'nother meaning for me ...
