Adaptation
Saw the movie Adaptation early this afternoon with a friend at Ward Theatre.
It was a twisted, whacky movie that pokes fun at one segment of movie making. It had a slow start, with voice overs, flashbacks abounds (even one flashback that goes where no flashback has gone before) but it tries to tie up the lose ends in the movie.
A strange movie but sort of enjoyable.

I loved "Being John Malkovich," and love what I've read about the moebius-like self-referential meta structure of this film, too.
Unfortunately, at least until the kids are older, Jen and I are resigned to see all films when they come out on DVD.

For the record, I have two copies of "Story" Robert McKee's book on screenwriting. One is my hardcover reference shelf copy. The other is my softcover loaner.
What's horrifying is how I went through the same series of arguements Charlie and Donald had until I read Story. Seeing it play out on the screen was a humbling experience.
Adaptation is a perfect example of "the end of a story is buried in its beginning."
