American Idol

I don't watch much TV, much less get into these Reality Shows which have recently become vogue; but when a Hawaii boy goes national, I do take some time to listen.

It was 18-year-old Jordan Segundo's chance to shine on National TV on American Idol tonight.

I didn't think the song he chose to sing was the best to showcase his voice, but I thought he had poise and presence - despite Simon's "fish on a platter" comment. I was disappointed by the comments he received from the judges and it was obvious that Jordan was, too.

I am hoping that the Hawaii audiences supported our local talent by calling in to vote for him. I'd like to see him make it to the next level, then we can say "Local boy does good" and really mean it.

Did anyone else catch his performance? What did you think?

I watched especially to see Jordan (just because of the Hawaii thing) and thought he did the best of all of them (I would've thought the same no matter where he was from).Simon is a..Well he's rude...this is my take on him (see link) http://www.latertater.com/zoe/archives/thisisyourbrain.gif

I watched just for Jordan too, and despite the busy signals and overloaded lines (which I hope was a good sign), we got in a handful of votes for him before the 10 p.m. news, too.

KHON sure went all out for him (and therefore, to be sure, their own ratings), too, with 'screen crawls' during later shows like Friends urging viewers to vote for him.

As for his performance, I think Jordan did pretty well, but I agree he had a weak start, and given how short a song segment each contestant has to shine, it was a challenge to overcome that.

I was more disappointed to see him smiling so seldomly after his segment, when caught on camera during subsequent "backstage" chatter. Simon was just being Simon (which should come as a surprise to no one), and it's showbiz, after all... so even if you're mother gets dissed, you've still got to roll with it and cheer and clap on cue.

Hey. I think that Jordan did really well. After all he's not a perfessional singer...yet! I (ONLY) watched the show for him. I think that he is cool. And I'm part Hawian too!
But I think that he has everything needed to become a VERY successful artist!

If Jordan needs a token rock song for his future album deal, I think I've ripped off enough Number Girl songs to qualify.

Well, the results are in and Jordan didn't make it to the next level.

Needless to say, he shouldn't be too disappointed because how many people can actually say that they had the opportunity to sing on national television? Not many. After all, he's only 18 and has MANY more years ahead of him -- I'm sure the exposure will be good for his future music career at any rate.

Ahhh... Jordan Segundo... We Filipinos (here in the DC Metro Area) were behind him all the way! No matter what Simon said, I felt that Jordan was the best among the guys. He did have a weak start (probably due to nerves), but everything else was his. You just never know what the "American public" (yeah rite) is looking for. Apparently, they don't know a good singer when they see/hear one! Cause Jordan can SIIIIIINNNNNNNGGGGGG! Go ahead, Jordan!

Personally, I was rooting for either Vanessa and Jordan, or Kimberly and Jordan. But for some reason, the public would rather have a Brian McKnight wanna-be in their Top 10. Personally, I go for originality, which the other contestants had. (And looks... cause so far the Top 10 is sorta lacking in that department... see, they should've chosen Jordan and Kimberly... *teehee*)

For an 18-year-old, Jordan has an awesome voice, and he shouldn't give up on singing. I'm waiting to see his name emblazoned in lights one day. We are some talented people, and Jordan has proven that. God bless ya', man!

i also think that Jordan came up with a weak start. however, the ending of his performance was most excellent. i voted when i got home from school at 9:30 until the voting polls closed at 11pm here in California. i was disappointed when i found out that he didn't get to be one of the finalists. at least he made it to the final 32. maybe someone else will appreciate his talent and give him a record deal.

Well it is sad to see that America didnt pick Jordan. Over here he is love by many. To many others like myself he is a hero, role model, and an inspiration. I am now current taking singing lessons and practicing for hours. Hopefully one day I'll make up there. Jordan has a gift. To bring the sound of music to life making people feel what he sings. On behalf of So Cali and my group we would like to say thanks to Jordan Segundo.

Well, Jordan didn't fare much better in Entertainment Weekly. Veteran writer Jessica Shaw said, "I nearly fell asleep during Jordan Segundo's performance of 'For Your Love.'"

Thanks to KHON's in-house promos and a multitude of profiles and interviews in other media, though, Jordan grew to be as big a local star as one can get inside of six months. I'm sure he's got a pretty decent future ahead of him in Hawaii - at least performing at events alongside other popular artists - and probably a call or two to return from Mountain Apple Records.

I think Jordan did very well. Coming all the way from our small state of Hawaii, he did more than great. He has worked so hard and he should've made it further. However, everyone knows that there are so many more opportunities for Jordan and we all are anxious to see what he'll be doing next! Go Jordan!

If you think Frenchie had it bad, Jaered Andrews is in for a rougher ride. I'm seeing a future episode of "Law and Order" in this one.

Jordan was one of the best performers of the whole competition. not to mention being by far the hottest. why America did not choose him is a mystery.

Jordan Segundo is really talented and not to mention very hot! He's so awesome and America doesn't know talent if they see it! I can't wait what's he's going to do in the future and knowing that he's did his hardest! I congrats him for making it that far and wish him all my best! You're da bomb! GO JORDAN SEGUNDO!!!

well here is a update ever since Jordans departure from American Idol. I do believe he has an offering from Disneyland. Also I know people who want to use Jordan as an actor along with an actress by the name of Maria Liquenta or something like that. But yeah well those of you in the islands would know more i am just from the mainlands. Everyone over here is dying for him. he made many fans accomplishing to be the first Asian-American vocal to perform on American Idol. Many people are now aspired to go on. I also believe that James fron the group Innerlude was there but didnt make it as far as Jordan did and that is an accomplishment beating a professional singer...

Great voice, great performer, great looks, great pity he didn't go farther. He will be seen again I hope - even if only so I can get a 6 foot poster of him on my bedroom wall. Ouch!
