I didn't know it closed

I was reading the January 22, 2004 edition of the Honolulu Star Bulletin and I came across Erika Engle's TheBuzz column (and for some strange reason it can't be linked to directly) where it mentions "Expanding cheeseburger chain and virus vaccinations" which I will only mention the cheeseburger chain part here.

It said that Cheeseburger in Paradise is going to open in the old Sizzler space at Ala Moana and Kalakaua. And my first reaction while reading this is "That Sizzler has closed up. Since when?"

Did only that location closed up or did all the Sizzler's on the island closed up as well?

I believe just the Waikiki Sizzler...it was in the news quite a while ago (I was surprised that it was still operating until recently; there were newspaper articles and TV coverage).

The Mililani Sizzler shut down at around the same time, so I'm pretty sure it's related - likely a shared franchisee arrangement, like what shut down several Burger King restaurants last year. I think the one in Pearlridge is still operating, though.

The Waipahu one, however, is still open. I was there yesterday!

I'm driving past the Pearlridge Sizzler in 20 minutes; will advise if there are signs of life.

Here's the link to the Erika Engle column about Cheeseburger In Paradise opening at the old Sizzler site.
