Masked Men on Donkeys

It's could be a bad mutation of the argument and pure conspiracy theory, or a hybrid thread to the same argument meant to introduce humor to the presidential campaign, that James Clarville and Paul Bagala, both political advisors now with the Kerry campaign, could have been the culprits behind a ploy of duping Dan Rather to unveil the Lt. Col. Killian memos on a live broadcast. The important points are, Bagala and Carville are former Bill Clinton advisors, and the authenticity of the memos in question are generally regarded as fake.

Dan Rather is now being categorized as being an unknowing triple agent based on the following: (1) on the surface, the Killian memos were intended to discredit Bush; (2) because many experts thus far solicited in their relevant field, have testified that the memos are bogus -- more likely, a hoax devised by rank amateurs who lacked the foresight even to procure the proper era typewriter to type out the memos (or was this slip-up intentional) -- connecting the dots to the memos' origins, can lead nowhere else but to the Kerry campaign, and thus will discredit Kerry, himself; and (3) (?) which in the final analysis, benefits Hilary Clinton. In other words, as a consequence of the memos being declared bogus.....by planting obvious clues that emulate unintentional ones that in turn indicate forgery.....Kerry will be framed and his credibility destroyed, and the whole controversy will end with Mr. Heinz being cut from our country's real-life Survivor series. The ensuing vacancy would generate a ground swell for Hilary to run for president in 2004 (yes, according to the conspiracy theorists, Hilary wants the whole enchilada, this year).....if all the desired events of the disinformation were to follow as planned.

The plot unfolds itself something like this: because Senator Kerry continues to fall behind in the polls.....ominous signs have been seen in the roll of the chicken bones.....that Kerry will not be able to regain enough momentum by November to rally a victory in the presidential race. Thereof, Democrats who believe that Kerry can not win the presidency, want to outright dump Kerry. However, the fears of these Democrat party loyalists were never the central concern of the conspirators. Instead, Hilary operatives, Clarville and Bagala, who volunteered their services to the Kerry campaign pro bono for love of party, now strike Kerry when the polls conspire against him, thus showing their true allegiance to Hilary, albeit for Hilary eyes only. But, it is rather late on the campaign trail, and there are certain legal and political ramifications, beyond simply pinning Kerry in the butt with a fourth purple heart.....if attempts of this ignominious strategy were to be carelessly undertaken. That is, without deploying the political equivalent of the fog of war, under a master plan with which Dan Rather kicks off the football for Team Hilary.....however, in the process, ends up being the political football, instead. Dan Rather is a loyal Democrat. You can bet he's pissed if he has inside information that the Democrats thought of him as expandable. So far, Rather has chose not to reveal the sources of the memos. In the meanwhile, Killian's secretary, has stated that though the memos are fake, the accusations are valid. Of course, this would not excuse the use of forged memos, even if its end purpose is to document real truth. Well everything is kangaroo court on the political stage.....maybe Dan Rather should get a pass.

Personally, I don't see how Hilary supporters would be behind the memo scheme. First of all, it is not a given that Hilary would be Kerry's replacement if Kerry gets ousted from the current campaign. More likely, under this scenario, it would be John Edwards, instead, who would be enlisted to replace the swift boat commander at the helm. Furthermore, should Edwards then go on to win the election and become President, the odds are that Hilary will not likely be the Democratic nominee for president in 2008.....as many have envisioned.....then only to evict a fellow Democrat already entrenched in the White House. On the other hand, if Mr. Bush does win the presidency over Kerry, Bush can not run for president for another term in 2008. Therefore, it would be more opportune for Hilary to become the Democratic Party's candidate who runs for president in 2008, where she would confront a lesser known Republican nominee, then it is for her to now mount a last minute challenge against an incumbent President, as would be the case this year. Senator Kerry's disfavorable showing in the latest polls only works in favor of Hilary running for president in 2008, so no need to get rid of the enemy of your enemy, especially in this case, when both entities happen to be one and the same person.

I think that while your post here is interesting and entertaining, and I'm glad you disclaim it as "conspiracy theory".

I wish there was a word for "this is something I'm just pulling out of thin air because it sounds good".

I think everyone needs to step away from the keyboards for a while, change out of their pajamas, and get some sun.

This whole mess has gone so bady for Dan Rather (and so well for bloggers), and has muddied the water over legitimate questions about Bush's National Guard service so well (why debate the substance when we can get all atwitter over kerning and superscripts!), I'd like to think it's all a Republican ploy. Sadly, I'm pretty sure it was a Democrat-supporting scheme that backfired badly. Either way, it's bad for Kerry, and America.

I mean, what war were we supposed to be concentrating on again?

I've heard lots of Hilary rumors, and surely a Bush reelection helps her for 2008. But c'mon, how could she replace Kerry for the last 40 days of this election year? The party picked its nominee a long time ago. Sadly, it's Kerry or nothing.

Hell, I'm voting for him, but I'd just as soon take nothing. A cabbage would get my vote over Bush, but that doesn't mean I'm happy about that.

Hell, Ryan, a cabbage might do a better job than Bush. At least it couldn't listen to its advisors.
