Can not take a hint

I know this got mentioned in another thread, but to this Petter Hegre or Porrarkivet or whatever you call yourself these days.

Could you please post the appropriate comment to a thread and not post to every thread saying The public beta of Central had a mixed review today. But people were talking about it everywhere. (see links on Mike's blog).

In case you have not noticed we here at HawaiiStories.com are not taking about it.

The 'public beta of Central' spam is at least interesting insofar as the perpetrator thought he'd fly under the radar better if his comment seemed almost blog-centric. More effective than 'Nice site!' which is the other basic tactic. Most others are pretty lame, linking to Viagra or lolita porn sites with no comment at all.

Comment spam is the current scourge of the web. HawaiiStories is one of many weblogs now running the MT-Blacklist plugin - it filters out most spam, and provides an easy way to clear out those that make it through. The only downside is that a spam comment has to be posted first — meaning it cleans up after the fact, rather than stopping junk at the door.

Movable Type, and any similar CMS, will probably have to move to a comment user login setup like pMachine, where you need to have an account even if you're just commenting (and not starting) threads.

At least this nutcase uses the same address all the time so it's easy to knock out the emails his posts here generate. Not bad this morning ... only 36 junk emails, none from him.

Ryan, have you upgraded the Blacklist to ver. 1.6 yet? There's a temporary centralized blacklist being kept, and 1.6 no longer needs a local copy of the file on the server.

Hey Ryan, could you please leave this Nork Porn comment here, or would it possible to edit out the links and URL's but keep the text in.

Oops. Sorry, Helen. I run the 'De-Spam' function of MT-Blacklist every so often, and it doesn't discriminate. Even if I left one once, it'd get flushed out later. Any reason why? Just to have an archaeological artifact of this first of many generations of blog-targeted spam?

My fellow pals and I at livelog.com have been getting comments identical to:

The public beta of Central had a mixed review today. But people were talking about it everywhere. (see links on Mike's blog).

It is exactly the same comment. I did a google search and realized a lot of ppl are getting this. Perhaps it is the new wave of spam?

google results
