People often ask me, What's your favorite science? As a full blown skeptic I always answer: Why, it's pseudo-science!
There's nothing like a good story about space-age healing necklaces or backwater UFO sightings. I mean, we've all heard the "proven fact" that more crimes are reported during a full moon.
So what of Sun Spots?
MORE...I've heard talk about it, but looks like it's finally official. They're going to open a Cheesecake Factory in Waiks.
MORE...That's right folks, the new counterfeit $20 made it's debut . . . CNN has an article in today's Money section here. That was quick, wasn't it?
Posted by Leimamo at 07:34 AMFriday brings Halloween or All Hallows Eve, or Samhain, or whatever your flavor a day that's blamed for everything from spiritual unrest to accelerated tooth decay. So what do you, your family, or your coworkers have planned for this last day of October?

It is that time again. NaNoWriMo time. So, who's doing it this year?
MORE...Our honorable and uncompromising President is going to be in Hawaii tomorrow to meet with some of the survivors of Pearl Harbor. He is just returning from a trip through Asia where he met with the Japanese Prime Minister and the Lady President of the Phillipines among others. Instead of going by helicopter the Pres will travel by motorcade through Honolulu and will attend a Republican Fundraiser in Waikiki. I hear that traffic is expected to be worse than usual.
Anybody plan on celebrating or protesting his arrival? If not, what are your thoughts on his visit to Hawai'i?
Posted by James at 09:55 PMA French reader sent me this splendid JPEG. It's a very large file, takes awhile to load, but then you can scan horizontally and view Paris at night in a full circular panorama. Let's have one like it for Honolulu! Top of the First Hawaiian Building?
(I suspect the Honolulu version would be more impressive in daylight.)
The recently revamped official web page of Gov. Linda Lingle comes with an added touch one might not expect from a politico: a soundtrack. The music mavens at the Mountain Apple Company provided the high-quality MP3 tracks, which include some standards, and some surprises. What's your take on her playlist? Are there any other politicians begging for a musical dedication?
MORE...Did we really need a new design? Has it already been 7 - 10 years since the last one? Hell, I still can't tell a real note from a counterfeit one and I'm not just talking about the last design, I'm talking about the one before that! Not anymore though, this time I'll know what to look for so if I'm in line ahead of you, it's gonna be a wait while I look for all the new fangled security features on the new bills. And it'll be twice the wait if I forget to bring my reading glasses!

Sorry, no swanky new design to show off, but the good news is, HawaiiStories is running again! After the Great Crash of 2003 it better be the only crash in 2003 we've moved HawaiiStories to a more stable MySQL backend, restored all 400+ posts, and nearly all of a whopping 4,200+ comments. (We did lose a few dozen, however.) Despite all the insanity, hopefully it'll feel like nothing's changed. For better or worse.
Thanks for your patience. Now, get back in the talkstory groove! After all, it's been a blog-worthy week across the globe.
